Arizona Insurance Continuing Education Requirements

  • Life, Accident and Health, Property, Casualty, or Personal Lines

    • Complete a minimum of 48 continuing education (CE) credit hours during each license term. Licensees must also complete a minimum of 6 hours of ethics CE training every license term as a part of the requirements UNLESS you are exempt.

  • Ethics Training

    • A producer must complete at least a 6-hour credit training course approved by the Arizona Department of Insurance and Financial Institutions.

  • Annuity Training

    • A producer who engages in the sale of annuity products shall complete a one-time 4-hour credit training course approved by the Arizona Department of Insurance and Financial Institutions.

  • Long Term Care/LTC Partnership Training

    • A producer who engages in the sale of Long Term Care products shall complete a one-time 8-hour credit training course approved by the Arizona Department of Insurance and Financial Institutions. In addition, the producer must complete a 4-hour credit training course each renewal period thereafter.

  • Flood Insurance Training

    • Insurance producers who sell flood insurance must complete a one-time, 3-hour credit training course on the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).

  • Resident

    • You are only exempt from Arizona’s insurance continuing education requirement if ALL THE FOLLOWING APPLY and continue to apply:

      • You have been “continuously licensed” in Arizona as an insurance agent, broker or producer since January 1, 1995; and,

      • You have not held a nonresident insurance producer license in another state at any time since January 1, 1995; and,

      • You have never been the subject of an order of the director of insurance for a violation of Arizona insurance laws (ARS Title 20) that resulted in your license being suspended, revoked, denied or not renewed; or, that required you to cease and desist from unlawful activity; or, that required you to pay restitution or a civil penalty.

    • If you are not a “major-line” producer, you do not need complete Arizona continuing education.

  • Non-Resident

    • A non-resident does not need to complete Arizona insurance continuing education if you are in compliance with the insurance continuing education requirements of your home state.

  • The Arizona Department of Insurance and Financial Institutions (DIFI) issues insurance licenses for four-year terms as follows:

    • Individual

      • On the last day of the month of the licensee’s birthday, but not less than 3 years and not more than 4 years after the last day of the month in which the license is issued or is required to be renewed.

    • Business Entity

      • On the last day of the same month 4 years after the issuance or renewal due date of the license.

  • FastrackCE courses are approved and categorized as online self-directed or online self-study.

  • The Final Exam is open book and does not require a monitor/proctor. You may refer to the Course Material as often as you need to complete the exam.

  • You must receive a score of 70% or better to pass the exam.

  • You will be given the opportunity to retake the exam if a passing score is not received.

Certificates of completion are available immediately after passing your exam by logging into your account and navigating to your Course History page.

FastrackCE reports your credits the next business day except holidays to SBS (State Based Systems). The state recognizes the date you passed/completed the exam as the date of completion. It is not based upon the day we report the hours to them.

  • Courses can only be repeated for continuing education credit if the completion dates are in a different license term.

In Arizona, excess continuing education (CE) credit hours cannot be carried over to the next renewal period.
